Former 'Idols SA' contestant Zoe Zana has been bowled over by the positive response to her debut single.
Zoe was among the top four contestants during the ninth season of the reality talent show in 2013 and released her first single, called 'Bulletproof', in June.
The bubbly 20-year-old worked with renowned South African musician Loyisa Bala, and the song was released under his eponymous record label, to which top 'Idols' 2010 contestant Lloyd Cele is also signed.
Speaking to the Daily Sun about her life after 'Idols', Zoe explained that she bravely approached Loyisa about a possibly collaboration herself.
"I am not a shy person and I think that has brought me this far in my career. I told Loyiso I needed him to help me with my music and he agreed," she said.
And while she's most certainly thrilled that the public's response to the single has been favourable, Zoe said both she and Loyisa were quite taken aback by its popularity.
"We did not expect it to get this big," said the singer.
She is, however, over the moon about the success, especially because 'Bulletproof' is in line with the musical direction she wants to take.
Said a delighted Zoe: "I think people will know my sound now because this song has really captured the kind of sound I want to be known for."
