Reviews: #DateMyFamily: Asanda judged for being a mom

We still don't understand why people put labels on single mothers.

First of all, Asanda, this week’s bachelorette, was absolutely beautiful, had a good personality, and a banging body. We are still surprised that she went to a television show to look for love, and we also wonder if she really can’t speak any vernacular language or she just chooses not to.

No matter how beautiful and bubbly she was, the forever giggling mother of one seemed to experience rejection from the families she dined with when she mentioned that she’s already a parent.

At least Sabelo’s family didn’t have a problem. We like Sabelo’s family, they seemed understanding, loving, and down to earth - even though Sabelo’s mom's actions were off-putting when she became apologetic about her small house. Someone should have told her that the show was not Top Billing.

We love Sabelo’s mom either way. She’s open-minded and represented her son very well. On the other hand, Thabang’s mom had monster-in-law tendencies. She made it clear that she doesn’t want her son to date a woman who has a child already. Isn’t that Thabang’s decision to make? In fact, with a mother like that, why would you even bother going on TV shows to look for love?

Family members with no brakes will embarrass you. It's a good thing that Asanda wasn’t on the losing end, Thabang is a Carvela enthusiast. His mother can relax with wanting to choose a partner for his son because he definitely won’t get a wife while still stocking different colours of those shoes.

Kingsley’s family wasn’t any different from Thabang’s family. They might not have behaved crazily like Thabang’s mother, but it doesn’t take a genius to see that they weren’t happy about Asanda being a mom. We really liked Kingsley though, he looked handsome and has gorgeous eyes.

Because his family had issues with the child and it also didn’t settle well with him, it’s okay for him to be rejected. With his looks, he will definitely find a girl - he just has to keep asking for those numbers.

We were happy with Asanda’s choice. As much as she said she’s not looking for a father for her child, it’s also important when you are a parent to go for a person who won’t have issues with you having a child.

Did the date go well? Maybe. There were awkward moments when Sabelo seemed uncomfortable when he had to tell his date that he’s inbetween jobs. But we are happy that Sabelo seemed confident about getting Asanda’s number and we hope they go out on many more dates.
