A couple of days ago, Nandi Mngoma revealed that she had bagged a new job as one of the cast members of a new telenovela created by Bomb Shelter Productions. Though she didn’t mention the name of the telenovela, Mzansi Magic has confirmed that the new show she’ll be acting in is called, The Road.
“Moving between iconic, ill-fated 1950’s era colliding with the energy of modern day Jozi, The Road weaves a tantalising tale of past and present. An epic love story and a series of mysterious deaths collide when an evocative book written from the memories of an old man leads to the silver screen. And so begins The Road," Mzansi Magic concisely described this new telenovela.
The director for local interests’ channels, Nkateko Mabaso, expressed excitement at the launch of Mzansi Magic’s fourth telenovela: “The road marks our fourth venture into the genre and we’ve gone all out to create a high quality, compelling drama for our audiences. We want them to feel immersed in the emotions of the characters and the demands of their worlds. The aim is to make a visually stunning, storyline-driven drama that will keep the viewers enticed."
You have to hand it to DStv and e.tv. Lately they’ve been churning out telenovelas out of their creative pockets like it's nothing. e.tv recently revealed that they’re also releasing their new telenovela, Gold Diggers, in August. Their story, Z’bondiwe, has been on the lips of many viewers since it aired.
Television content has never looked so good in South Africa. In case you didn’t know, apart from Nandi Mngoma, The Road also has a star-studded cast that consists of the likes of Gail Mabalane, Moneoa, Sithembiso Khoza and others.
