Why do all good things come to an end? That's probably what some people are asking themselves as they prepare to watch the Rockville season finale this evening.
The action-packed series, which has had Mzansi viewers talking since it first aired, will end with a bang, according to the show's writer Phathu Makwarela. He wrote on Twitter: "I made time to write tomorrow's final episode of Rocville3 - which simply means: the dialogue is so camp and witty - Gladys approves!"
He also revelealed there will be a shooting.
Yho! Rockville, which is one of SA's favourite dramas, has had a lot of twists and unexpected turns in what's proved to be a popular third season. Viewers were really shocked when Khanya Mkangisa's character Nolitha - a troubled drug addict - died because of her addiction. That episode felt too real and brought some of us to tears.
This was followed by another banging episode where her father, played by Don Mlangeni, shot and killed Nosipho - JB and Dudu's daughter. Now this was unexpected. Some viewers felt that he had all the right to do that as her daughter (Terry Pheto) had introduced her to drugs and the fast life. It was sad to see how broken the man was and watching his desparate attempts at revenge was heartbreaking.
We certainly can't wait for tonight's episode. And, who knows, the show might come back for a fourth season. Although it hasn't been confirmed yet, we suspect that Rockville's reign in South African television is far from over. When asked about season four, Shona Ferguson said it's up to the channel to decide. We all know for certain he'd be up to the task though!
