It hasn't been a good few months for anybody involved in Generations, and the same can be said of former actor, Anga Makubalo, who used to play the role of MJ on the popular soapie.
While other actors looked to be heading to other shows and channels, Makubalo had decided to turn his attention to music and a deal with local stable, Afrotainment, seemed to be in the pipeline. However, Mthokozisi Khathi, formally known as DJ Tira, is apparently no longer keen on signing Anga who goes by the stage name, Naakmusiq.
A close source said that Tira, who is otherwise called "Makoya", was extremely excited at the prospect of adding Naakmusiq to his label. Look, on paper the move seemed to make sense; Anga is already a massive name thanks to his exploits on Generations as MJ. However, things have gone down hill ever since he was axed from the show and Tira is said to no longer be keen on the prospect.
One of Afrotainment's artists said: “Makoya wanted to have NaakMusiq in the family for over a year now. He made him perform at gigs where he wasn’t booked. He did that because he knew that MJ was a household name due to his fame on Generations."
It gets worse; not only has Tira changed his mind about him, Anga's friends are said to be distancing themselves from the actor/singer. “Nobody wants to be seen next to him because inyuku iphelile (he has no money). That’s the price that comes with fame,” a source claims
When asked about the situation, DJ Tira said, “Afro till my casket drops. Thank you God for blessing us with talent to feed our families. Forgive those who don’t know what they are doing.”
Anga did not respond when sought for comment.
