SA Idols S10: Strippers and wooden mics!

Oh dear! SA Idols last night was more of a comedy show than a singing competition.  We shed more tears of laughter in one hour than all of Unathi’s tears from season nine combined!  At this moment, viewers are only looking for the comedy effect of this competition and we understand that. The only time viewers really start taking the show seriously is when the fate of the top 20 contestants boils down to the audience's votes. But for now we laugh at the entertainment the wooden mic contestants offer us!

Before we even chat about the real talent, can we just discuss our dear friend in the red Carvella shoes, Tyson Baloyi. If there’s one thing we can commend this man on it's his vocal ambition, Tyson wanted to reach those high notes so badly that at one point he even stood on his toes whilst shrieking, is he aspiring to be like the legendary Prince?

One Twitter comment even said that Tyson sounded like a hyena giving birth right there. Ouch! That’s a bit harsh isn't it guys? These Twitter streets really are rough (If you didn't know, now you know!)

Then there was Sthembiso Ngcukana who sang a dreadful version of John Legends All of Me. Shame bhuti, you really wasted your taxi fare from Katlehong to Carnival City yazi?  Do you guys know how expensive a taxi fare from Katlehong to Carnival city is!? He should’ve just stuck to singing to himself in the shower or used the money for a decent haircut.

The same goes to Colleen whose audition traumatized Somizi so much, Somgaga even took the time to post an Instagram video of the guy and his excruciating high pitched voice.  Maybe Tyson, Sthembiso and Colleen should collaborate together and become the 2014 watered down version of the Bee Gee’s, that’s the only way they’ll put their high pitched singing voices to good use (No shade)

A special mention goes to our Vaya Orlando performer, Ayanda, who brought Unathi’s tears back into the lime light again with his Dr Malinga inspired moves, and pirouette leap! All that dancing got him so confused he forgot where the exit door was.

Amongst all the laughter, one person who managed to get the viewers' blood boiling is non other than “Dr Evil” himself, Randall whose meanness was s on another level last night! The way he just had no time for nonsense, even going to such an extent as to tear someone's golden ticket!

Then there was the strip-tease moment that had Unathi all giggly and happy inside.  The moment was ruined when Geo (real name George, don't know why he would shorten his name to a geography acronym, but that's none of our business)  Anyway Geo ruined the moment by showing us his butt-crack... Seriously dude, that was unneccessary.

Oh, who remembers the actual stripper who came through? Some people weren't quite happy with Queen Fluffy, we actually think Queen Fluffy looked quite sexy!

We're off to such a great start with this season of SA Idols, we can't wait to see what else is in store for us next week Sunday! Who caught the eye for you in this week's episode? Leave us your thoughts in the comments section!
