So we’ve been informed that the SAMA21 nomination announcement is going to be held on Thursday the 12th of March, in Sandton. Awards season is clearly in full effect and with the 2015 Metro FM Awards having recently made a lasting impression on us, (Purely because of the fashion, by the way) We’d sincerely like to see some of the nominees actually winning some of the awards on the night of this prestigious musical event.
I have no doubt that KO will receive numerous nominations from the SAMA panel, but all we've seen is the rapper be snubbed not once, but twice these past few months (First at the Channel O and Metro FM Awards). I can only hope that the Skhanda Nation goes all out and sacrifices a small creature in order to make sure that he wins. Come to think of it, KO's Skhanda movement has not only influenced the sound of local hip hop but urban culture as a whole, surely the man deserves at least one award right? Maybe because on the night, the winners will be chosen by a panel, rather than votes, he could stand a chance.
Another artist who I’d love to see receive numerous SAMA nominations and scoop up an award or two, is R&B artist Ayanda Jiya. I understand that to many she might be new in the music scene but she's got what it takes to be named as one of the top artists in South Africa. The songstress not only has a beautiful voice, but her music is actually of high standard and quality, something worth digging out of my pocket and actually paying for. When you have a moment pop on over to Ayanda Jiya's sound cloud account and have a listen to a couple of her songs, I foresee this lady having a long-lasting career in the music industry with the quality of work she's putting out.
Having recently released the video for her hit single Go Go Girl which got her a Metro FM Award nomination I'm holding my thumbs and toes in the hopes that she'll get a nomination and award at the SAMAs.
Check out what Ayanda had to say about the inspiration behind her Go Go Girl video here.
