What's Hot: SARS comes after Tbo Touch

The Metro FM host is reportedly being investigated by SARS.

Uh-oh! What a horrible start to the week for   Tbo Touch! He's already been suspended by Metro FM and now he's under investigation from the South African Revenue Services (SARS). According to Sunday World, SARS notified the DJ of its intentions to investigate his financial affairs, including those of his foundation, Touchlives.

Two sources told the paper that Touch received letters from the financial institution alerting him that his lifestyle and companies are under investigation.

SARS, according to Sunday World, allegedly believes that the Metro FM host has been dodging his tax. A source told the paper that SARS has been on Touch's tail for two years after learning that he used his foundation's cards to pay for an overseas trip, shopping and accommodation.

"They were shocked that his foundation had never done any charity work, even though it had been receiving a lot of money. Instead it was organising concerts for overseas artists," a source said.

Touch also apparently paid for minister Fikile Mbalula's business class flight return ticket and accommodation while they were in the USA for the NBA all star weekend. The minister allegedly declared to parliament that his trip to the USA was a gift from Tbo Touch and was not funded by taxpayers.

But when asked about this, the minister told Sunday World: "How I travel is no one's business. And for the record, Tbo Touch did not pay for my trip. He is the one being investigated."

Another source said the investigation was sparked by Touch's expensive lifestyle. "They are now  auditing on him because they believe his income does not collaborate with his spending," the source told Sunday World.

SARS deputy spokesperson Marika Muller told the paper: "SARS does not and cannot comment publicly on the affairs of any taxpayer regardless of whether it is a business, a trust or individual taxpayer."
