The Cashtime Showdown Hip Hop festival
Zalebs attended the Cashtime Showdown Hip Hop Festival that took place at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, Soweto on Saturday 26 October.
Channel O together with the event’s brainchild, Cashtime Entertainment, aimed to unite rappers and DJs as well as give fans a unique SA hip hop experience through the festival.

It was a joyful day with the MC being the beautiful Dineo Moeketsi. Proceedings on stage were kicked off with performances by Casper, Nyowest, Khuli Chana, JR, Teargas, Cashtime Fam, Ifani, L.tido, A.K.A, Da Les and Pro. Sizwe Dlomo and Spechtecular were the only DJs at the party, but their charisma and skill people dancing and having a good time

The first person we spoke to was Morale, one of SA's most talented rappers. We asked the rapper he thought of the event and how it felt to see such big SA Hip Hop artists performing on the same stage

"I think that everybody is doing a good job in Hip hop right now. Whether you're coming from the north or the south, as long as you are visible they are they doing a good job, and I know this event is going to be one of the best this year"

We asked if we Can be expecting an album anytime soon from Morale?

Yes you can- my album is going to be called Only God On Lifetime. That album is going to drop next year after I’ve dropped a few of the singles.

We then moved on to Flabba, who has been in the game for more than 10 years. We spoke to him about the standard of hip hop in South Africa.

I think SA hip hop is doing good and it hasn’t changed that much from the time we were still making music as Squatercamp, However I think the artist should slow down on rapping about swag and focus about rapping with things that are happening within the community. People should relate to the music that we as hip hop artist produce.

[When can we see Flabba perform again?] We will be performing as Skwatta Kamp on the first of November 2013 at Zone 6 Venue, and we will be celebrating 10 years of mkhumkhu funkshen.

Teargas star, KO was also at the event, and we couldn't let him get away without a quote.

“As far as South African Hip Hop is concerned, the Showdown Hip Hop Festival is a corner stone for unity and growth within the South African hip hop fraternity. Cashtime Entertainment and Teargas as the brains behind this annual event are proud and honored to showcase this amazing line up of artists and DJs right in the heart of Soweto. The concert has grown leaps and bounds yearly and forging ahead we are hoping to ignite government and corporate interest to help take this initiative to higher heights.” – KO (Teargas)
