Rumours have been doing the rounds that the reality show Zola 7 - which debuted back in 2002 - is set to return to TV presented by its original presenter, actor and kwaito star Bonginkosi ‘Zola’ Dlamini.
The show focused on helping the youth reach their full potential whether it was improving at school, finding a job or realising their dreams. Zola 7 had a bit of Khumbul'Ekhaya (Remember Home) in it too, as it assisted families in resolving family disputes and finding common ground within a space of three days.
Zola was approached by Sunday Sun to confirm if the rumours were true, but insisted that it’s an idea that is still in the pipelines - nothing has been signed on paper yet.
“It’s all still in the pipeline. We are still negotiating and I will see if I agree with their terms. I can’t say much at the moment as nothing has been finalised.”
In 2006 the show extended throughout Africa reaching countries such as Tanzania, Nambibia, Swaziland, Mozambique and Botswana after Zola had received so many letters requesting his assistance in their lives. The show was later on called Zola 7 In Africa.
Helping people has been one of Zola’s callings way before the show even started said Unathi Memela, Zola’s manager.
“He started way before the show and continued even after the show was called off air.”
Memela also informed the publication that Zola has been busy with another campaign to encouraged pupils to stay in school and not give in to the stresses of peer pressure.
“The campaign was inspired by a track he did with his producer Mash, titled These Fools, which dealt with peer pressure among pupils. The message is don’t bow down to peer pressure,”
Fans of the Kwaito star can expect the upcoming release of his seventh album titled Intathakusa/Ingobamakhosi. Zola did not specify when he plans on releasing the album though.
All we can say is welcome back Zola, and in your own words "Zingu 7 maz'phelele!"
