Tributes have been pouring in for hip hop pioneer, Hechichamunorwa Mount Zion Kwenda, better known as Mizchif the influential rapper, who died last week at the age of 38.

The Zimbabean native, moved to New York when he was 12 and then relocated to South Africa at the age of 18. He released his debut album, ‘Life from All Angles’ a few years later in 1999.

The album featured hit songs including ‘Place for a Wife’ and ‘Fashionable’, was well received across the African continent.

According to eNCA, they received confirmation that Mizchif passed away after collapsing on a bus, while on his way to Zimbabwe.

While Metro FM DJ Unathi Nkanyi, revealed her fond memories of the hip hop star to Sunday World.

“I remember most about him his humble nature and giving attitude, unlike the stereotypical idea one has about emcees. A creative heart is always relevant for as long as they want to be, “ she explained.

The exact cause of the artist’s death is unknown.

His funeral is expected to take place in Harare.
