Want to Contribute to ZAlebs?
By Tinashe Venge on 06 February 2014 at 17:00 · Comments
Have you heard some interesting gossip that you want us to investigate and write about? Or better yet, do you want to write for ZAlebs yourself? We're about to show you how!

It's a new year and a new start, but for ZAlebs the agenda remains the same as it's always been: To bring our readers the most exciting entertainment news in South Africa. However, we've decided to add a new element to our reporting. We want to give YOU, the readers, more of a voice. We put our heads together and came up with two wonderful solutions that will allow you to contribute to your favorite entertainment news website.

1. Give us a heads up!

Did you hear something exciting this weekend? Did you catch a male celeb with a lady who WASN'T his wife? Is there a scoop that you've seen on Twitter that's flying under the radar? Let us know, and we'll report it! Before we do, we'll go through all the necessary channels to verify that there IS a story and it's not unsubstantiated rumor (As can be the case on today's social networks!) but once that's done and it fits the bill, we'll publish it.

Oh, you'll get all the credit for giving us the heads up. We'll include links to your Twitter/Facebook profile (If you wish, of course) so that the world can get to know you for your keen investigative skills.

2. Write for Us!

Fancy yourself as a bit of an entertainment journalist? That's great, because we'd love to try you out. If you think you have a great story on your hands, whether it be breaking news, a review, or coverage of an event, we're inviting you to send us a pitch. If we like your pitch, you can write the story and once it's approved by the editor, it will go live on ZAlebs! This is a great opportunity for anybody trying to increase their writing portfolio, or for anybody who enjoys writing as a hobby.

Just like with the heads up, we'll give you full credit for the story, and include links to your Twitter/Facebook profile. You'll also be able to share a link to your story with all your friends, family and pets (If they can read) And let the world see your writing talents.

So what now?

If you like the sound of this, you're probably thinking- what's next? Well, uh. Get in touch with us!

If you think you've discovered the next big story and you want to recommend we look into it, send an email to our content coordinator, using the address [email protected]. Make sure to include the source of the story, as well as any evidence you might have; i.e tweets, voice clips, pictures etc. Note: Be sure to take a SCREEN SHOT of any tweets you might be sharing, just in case they get deleted by the author!

If you would like to write for ZAlebs, send a 100 word pitch of your potential story to our editor. You can email your pitch as well as any additional material you may have to [email protected]. Once your pitch is approved, you will be given guidelines for the article as well as a deadline from the editor.

Once again thank you to all our wonderful readers, and we look forward to working a lot more closely with you in 2014!
