WeChat & CliffCentral hosts official launch party

WeChat hosted the official CliffCentral.com launch party at Movida in Rivonia last week Friday.

Open to the public from 21h00, Gareth Cliff and his team delivered on their promise of uncensored, unscripted and unhinged: waiters included a dwarf, a tribal man and a gimp.

“Gone are the days of sticking to one broadcast medium, or a specific timeslot. Our audience – my dysfunctional family as I like to call them – can engage with CliffCentral when it suits them, on the medium that suits them. Photos, voice notes from the team, podcasts, news, the daily opinion poll – it’s all available on WeChat 24/7,” explained the self-proclaimed President of CliffCentral before hitting the decks shortly after 22h00.

Voyeurs who’d prefer to watch Damon from the comfort of their living rooms can do so by tuning in to the Gareth Cliff Show which is broadcast live on Comedy Central Africa on DSTV’s channel 122 between 07h35 and 09h00 weekday mornings.

“We promised you multi-faceted unradio and we’ve been hard at work making the experience accessible to all, which is why MTN subscribers can now stream CliffCentral free-of-charge via our Official Account (OA) on WeChat,” Cliff continued.

CliffCentral.com started broadcasting on Worker’s Day, with the Gareth Cliff Show on air from 06h00 – 09h00 in the week. The full CliffCentral.com line-up, which promises some well-known names (including Casper de Vries) as well as aspiring new talent, will be announced later this month.

Auditions are still underway and those interested in joining the CliffCentral team should mail a motivation to [email protected] explaining why they deserve a show. “If you want to be a music DJ, then try your luck elsewhere. We’re looking for individuals who can add to our lively, entertaining and sometimes downright ridiculous conversations,” said Cliff.
