It’s that time of the year again as the Sunday Times Generation Next Awards show kicks off for yet another extravaganza, celebrating brands and personalities voted “coolest” in their categories by SA’s youth aged 8-22.
In their first media release, Sunday Times has announced AKA as the official headliner for the annual award show.
In a recent statement, AKA expressed that he was looking forward to performing for the kids, as they play a pivotal role in his career.
“I hardly ever get to perform for the kids who are actually a huge part of my fan base. I’m looking forward to interacting with the kids and performing new music. My band and I will make it extra special for the lil ones. Let me not spoil it for them,” he said.
In 2014, AKA made it clear that he would distance himself for opening up for any international acts, and since then the rapper's shows have been nothing but a success.
On Sunday, 1 May, AKA hosted the Supa Mega Show at the Zone 6 Venue to a packed crowd, alongside acts such is Kwesta, Da Les, and Yanga.
Critics viewed the Supa Mega Show as his most successful show to date.
The Sunday Times Generations Next Awards are set to take place on 10 June at the Sandton Convention Centre.
