Is there any film festival Ayanda can't crack the nod for?

South African film Ayanda - or Ayanda and the Mechanic if you like full names, has enjoyed a fantastic reception around the world.

The film has been invited to numerous festivals already, and has now received yet another invite to showcase itself on the world stage.

This time, Ayanda will be shown at the BFI London Film Festival next month.

This film festival is the biggest of its kind in Britain, with a whopping 238 films set to be shown from 7 to 18 October.

Helen Kuun, the CEO of Indigenous Film Distribution, told Sowetan: "The festival provides a platform for films seeking global success and supports the careers of the filmmakers through its industry and awards programmes. This year’s programme is stronger than ever and everyone involved in the making of Ayanda deserves to be proud about this latest accolade."

Indigenous Film Distribution is the company which holds the South African rights to Ayanda.

While South Africans are yet to see the film, we should not fret just yet, as the highly-anticipated movie will hit our cinemas on 2 October.

South African superstar Terry Pheto co-produced Ayanda. Check out here interview with ZAlebs here.
