While some people are tired of seeing the same faces on TV and radio, it doesn't seem fair that some celebrities are being attacked in the process.
We've seen and heard countless complaints from people who want fresh personalities to be given a chance in the entertainment industry, and not just Minnie Dlamini, Bonang Matheba, Pearl Thusi, Boity Thulo, Lerato Kganyago, and others.
This even led to #OpenUpTheIndustry becoming a trending topic on Twitter, with different people sharing their opinions.
Different celebrities also joined in on the conversation. Bonang, who is on Top Billing, Afternoon Express, E! Entertainment Africa, and Metro FM, was interviewed by 702.
In a short clip posted on the radio station's Twitter page, she explained that she initially lost out on the Metro FM gig to Siphokazi January.
"When Metro FM was trying to replace, Azania left Metro FM, and there was an open call for people who want to be on Metro FM to send through their demos and that's what we did. People don't know that I lost that gig to Siphokazi January. And, when I lost that gig, I wasn't like 'ahhh, whatever, stuff this'. It was a matter of like 'I didn't get this right now, let me try something else..."

Meanwhile, Lerato Kganyago has also taken to her Twitter page to share her thoughts on the topic.
Nobody wants to start at the bottom and work their way up like some of us did. People just want to start at the top nje!!!

"NOBODY wants to work! People just want everything handed to them!!!," Lerato wrote.
You think you too cool to start from the bottom! That's the problem!!!
— leratokganyago (@leratokganyago) April 27, 2016
She then shared how many times she has been rejected.
50 auditions, 5 demos to Metro FM, 2 demos to YFM, years of rejection, not once did I khomba anyone, saying they don't deserve their job!!
— leratokganyago (@leratokganyago) April 27, 2016
Go use those fingers to get experience at community radio stations and tv stations! And stop using them to khomba people!!!

Pearl Thusi also added some interesting views.
#OpenUpTheIndustry would be much easier if those already in it were paid decently enough to not have to take more work to feed the fam.
— PEARL THUSI (@PearlThusi) April 27, 2016
And if people weren't too eager to replace people on soapies etc, we'd have better case to fight for better pay so there can be more people.
— PEARL THUSI (@PearlThusi) April 27, 2016
Once upon a time I had to hold down 3 jobs to earn around 30K a month at MOST. As a single mom, freelancing. That's a joke. THREE JOBS!!!

Broadcasters are taking advantage of how desperate artists and the rest are to get in. How cheap ppl will come to get on screen.
— PEARL THUSI (@PearlThusi) April 27, 2016
Lastly. Some y'all acting like I was born into this- we all struggled "industry" to get in. We've been there. STAYING HERE- even worse.

Sjoe! What a heavy, but necessary topic.
