Radio and TV personality Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp will at the end of the month realise her lifelong dream to be a winemaker.
Speaking to Sarie.com about the journey to create her own wine, Elana said it's something she's always wanted to do.
"I said when I move back to the Cape [from Johannesburg] I would be a winemaker! And when I moved back in 2011, the process started," said the bubbly 'Expresso' breakfast show presenter.
She admits that she knew absolutely nothing about making wine when she started, but refused to let that stand in her way.
Said Elana: "I learned on the job for a year. It is very frustrating, because you have to be very observant.
"It was a goal, and after I met Rudi [van Waltsleben], my assistant winemaker, the rest was history."
Elana decided to make a shiraz, because it's always been one of her favourite types of wine, along with pinotage and boutique wines.
"I can't taste white wine. I'm not good at it," she explained of her decision to create a shiraz.
"And I thought I rather want to stick with something I know. A sparkling wine might be next, but I still have a lot to learn before tackling that."
'Elana Wine' will be available on the former 5FM morning show presenter's website from the end of May. Orders will be placed via email and delivered thereafter.
