Flabba's wife Mpho has spoken out for the first time about the rapper's death. In an exclusive interview with eNCA, Mpho said the Skwatta Kamp member was not a violent person.
Mpho and Flabba were together for 20 years and have a daughter named Lesego. Although they were separated, they remained good friends. The rapper was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend Sindisiwe Manqele about two weeks ago.
Speaking to eNCA, Mpho said: "Nkuli was not a violent person, he was not a violent person. It is very strange. You know what, I am not going to say a lot because at the end of the day I wasn't in the room, they were together. But according to me, he wasn't violent at all. For that 20 years of my life, I never experienced anything that I would say "wow, I almost did what she has done. It's very weird."
She said Flabba's brother Tshepang informed her about his death through a phone call. She added: "I couldn't get him clearly on the phone because of the emotions he was going through. He couldn't speak so I picked up that there was something wrong..."
Mpho then drove to Flabba's Alexandra home to check what was wrong. "That's when I found the news." She said she saw Flabba and spoke to him, although he couldn't respond. "I did hold his hand and try... I said stuff about... you know trying to make him feel like 'yes, I am here and if you need anything, you need me to do anything just give me a sign and I will do it'. But unfortunately..."
Flabba was buried last Sunday (15 March) at Johannesburg's West Park Cemetry. At the funeral, Mpho, who was speaking through a friend, thanked the rapper and said she will always love him.
