Kwaito singer Magesh is reportedly behind bars because of an agrument that erupted over a tavern bill.
According to Daily Sun, the musician was arrested for refusing to pay R62 for his drinks. The incident reportedly happened at Cubana Lounge in Bloemfrontein on Monday evening.
A source told the paper that Magesh tried to leave without paying for his drinks and he was stopped by a waitress.
"Magesh and his friend ordered two drinks. Then the waitress asked him to pay when she saw him trying to leave without settling his bill. The star then told her the drinks were expensive drinks. He said he had his own club in Joburg that didn't charge that much," the source told Daily Sun.
This was reportedly followed by an argument, which lasted for about two hours, with staff pleading with the singer to pay his bill. He reportedly refused.
The cops were called. "When he saw the cops he changed his tune. He said he was famous and had money but then began to negotiate, to pay R40."
Magesh reportedly caused a scene and told the cops that the prices were expensive and that he wouldn't pay. That's when he was arrested.
The incident was confirmed by police spokesperson, Captain Chaka Marope, who told Daily Sun: "The artist and his friend were arrested and charged with theft after they allegedly failed to pay a bill of R62. They will appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court today."
