The Season 12 auditions of Idols SA kicked off on a high note over the weekend when an estimated 2,000 hopefuls flooded the Playhouse in Durban.
According to M-Net, the queues went all the way around the Playhouse. Idols SA presenter and co-executive producer Proverb was impressed with the turnout.
“Durban has delivered every single season I’ve been part of, both from a turn out point of view, but most especially from a talent point of view. And this year is no different. The Zulu Kingdom has come to the party and produced once again,” he said in a statement released by M-Net.
Proverb added that the province that produced Idols SA winners Khaya Mthethwa and Vincent Bones had set the tone for the rest of the audition tour.
“As our first stop for the Season 12 search, the bar has certainly been set and KZN is to be applauded for always coming to the party, literally and figuratively,” Proverb added.
Bongo drummer Mxolisi Manqele and singer Phumzile Washusha were two hopefuls determined to leave a lasting impression on the judges as they camped outside the venue all night.
Since the auditions begun, Proverb has been pushing the Durban auditions hard on his social media platforms.
