Thando Thabethe's Women’s Day Netball Challenge is now in its second year.

Thando Thabethe is not just about looking pretty on television and sounding good on radio. She also cares about empowering women. The actress and radio personality is using her Thando Thabethe Women's Day Netball Challenge to create awareness of abuse against women.

The event encourages women of all ages to participate. Entry for the tournament costs R100, and all proceeds are donated to the Bethany Home for Abused Women. The event is also meant to be a fun day out for the whole family.

In 2014, the event attracted over 400 people and raised more than R20,000 for the Bethany Home for Abused Women.

Thando said in a statement: "We need to encourage Women around us to be strong enough within themselves to stand up against abuse. This event aims to allow Women to feel powerful, to not feel like less of a human being because of emotional and physical abuse. I would like every Women to find their Power and inspire change in their communities. Change amongst Men and Women in South Africa. The Thando Thabethe Netball Challenge is a celebration of Women and their power."
