The video for Why Hate was co-directed by Toya Delazy and Lesedi Rudolf from Your Girlfriend Productions and Delazy Entertainment.
The shoot featured fans (gathered after the artist's call out on Facebook) and friends from soccer player Portia Modise to comedian Donovan Goliath, singer Moonchild and actor Themba Ntuli - all people who play an active role in Toya's daily life.
Toya explained the message behind the song and what she hopes to teach people with her new single.
"Why Hate is a song that I wrote against hate crimes last year, to protect my family, my friends, my fans and people that I love from being hurt because of who they are" the singer said.
"I want to promote a foundation for the young people that will never allow them to have an experience like that again. Being black, fat, old, disabled, or even gay aren't diseases...but homophobia, sexism or racism are," she added.
On the process of involving her friends in a video shoot, Toya said: "It was my first time actually directing a video (with Lesedi), I had a lot of fun doing it, and it marks the beginning of some new projects (for me)..."
The Why Hate video was also shot at the ZAlebs studios a few months back.
