What's Hot: Tweeps slam Mos Def’s ‘No More Parties in SA' lyrics

Mos Def has spoken out following his arrest in South Africa, but his response has received more flak than understanding.

Yasiin Bey, better known as Mos Def, is not impressed with South African officials, and he referenced Kanye West’s No More Parties in LA to let the world know how he feels.

A recorded message from the US rapper was uploaded on Kanye West's website on Wednesday in which he speaks about his arrest at Cape Town International Airport on Thursday, 14 January, for allegedly using fraudulent travel documents.

He apparently tried to leave the country using a "world" passport - which actually is a real thing!

“No more parties in SA.  Please, tell ’em no more parties in SA. Hey Home Affairs, I don’t need to stay, I’ll leave and I’ll stay away,” his reworked lyrics read.

He continued: "I committed no crime any place. Why these police up in my face? Why they raiding my place? Why I don’t feel safe?”

Mos Def went on to accuse SA officials about lying in the media about the incident.

“At this present time, I am currently in Cape Town, South Africa, and I’m being prevented from leaving, unjustly, unlawfully, and without any logical reason. They’re saying that they want to deport my family. Uh, they’re making false claims against me, some of these government officials, even in the press are making false claims against me, saying that my travel document that I was traveling with is fictitious, which it is not,” he said in a recorded message on Kanye West's website

He added that he has reason to believe that there are political motivations behind the way he is being treated.

But tweeps are not impressed with his post, and some accused him of thinking South Africa is a banana republic. #NoMorePartiesInSA and #WorldPassport were trending on Wednesday morning.

Others made light of the situation - as you do...
