ZAlebrity Crush: Anthony Oseyami

From tackling roles on television hit series's like Jacobs Cross, Room 9 and recently Traffic! we speak to this months ZAlebrity Crush Anthony Oseyami about music, film reels

As an avid follower of the Naledi Awards, which winners were you impressed to see win at this years ceremony?

Definitely the likes of Athandwa Kani and Nat Ramabulana make a great team together.  Those two are constantly on the grind working which was a definite thumbs up for me and the cool thing is they have this strong presence on television which is actually
A little birdy informed us that you are in the process of making an album; can you confirm if this is true?
Yeah! That is true; I’m currently recording the first single titled “This Love” which I’m working with my producer called Graeme Wall.  And the song is sounding nice can’t wait until everybody hears it.

What type of music genre can people expect from you, because we’re so used to Anthony the actor and not Anthony the musician?

That’s very true; I’d say this album is a bit more on the Lynden David Hall and Lenny Kravitz tip.  It will definitely get the ladies and gents swaying to the sounds of my music.  I’m waiting for the mix to come back from L.A and hopefully I’ll be able to put it out by the end of this month but I’d also like to get started with the music video shoot.

One of our favourite shows that you acted in was Jacob’s Cross how was a simple day on set like acting alongside the likes of Hlomla Dandala?

Jacob’s Cross was an EPIC! EPIC! EPIC! show and experience.  For me it was like the African version of Dallas and what made it an even more exciting experience was that I was surrounded by an extremely talented cast who really made sure that we were all on our A-game and gave off the best performance ever to come out of a local series.
It was just an absolute pleasure to be a part of the show.  Props goes to Bomb Shelter for also being such an awesome production house to work for, those guys were incredible, every time I read their script I’d get excited because I couldn’t wait to see what was in store for us as actors of the show.

Speaking about scripts, you’re also a script-writer yourself.  Would you say you enjoy scriptwriting more than acting?
Nope! Acting is my first calling; it’s just that with script writing I’ve always been writing even before I embarked on my acting journey.  But I love acting I’ve been doing it for a good twenty-five years now so.

Which role throughout your acting career would you say gave you that aha-moment?
I think it must’ve been my first job in London on set of The Bill in the chair with a camera on and it just like "aha" this is what I was meant to do for the rest of my life. Aha!

Your opinion of the Oscar Pistorius Trial?

You know as a man when it comes to our ladies, whether we're in the right or wrong we tend to get the red myth (anger) and unfortunately he had the red myth which lead him to do certain things that he totally regrets.  We're human and we make mistakes and unfortunately this is a mistake he'll probably have to pay for, for most of his life.

You can expect to see Anthony in a new international TV series coming soon, plus he'll be featuring on our silver screens in a Western film called The Salvation.
