ZAlebs Exclusive access to Zonke's Live DVD show
On Friday night the stage was set for the long awaited Give & Take Live DVD performance by singer/songwriter Zonke and ZAlebs was privileged enough to gain exclusive backstage access to catch a glimpse of the songstress at work.

From sound check, to the wardrobe outfits it was obvious that this show had been sold out for a reason; it was going to be spectacular.

ZAlebs managed to grab a few words with one of Zonke's close friends and workers - Alex, her pianist & co-executive producer of her Ina Ethe album.

This is what he had to say about the journey of making The Give & Take DVD Concert:

"The vision that we had for this DVD was to bring the music we made in the studio to life on stage.  The picture we painted on the album we're now trying to make sure people see it this time becuase when they listen to the album it's their own imagination that they use to try and interprete what Zonke is singing about but now its our opportunity to show them Zonke's point of view and the story behind every song.  People will not only hear, but also feel the emotions that Zonke conveys through her music, ten times even better than when listening to her on the album, our vision was to also stay true to the artistry of live recording so we reduced all digital input and made sure that each and every instrument played on stage could be heard clearly.   We're very proud of this project because ultimately this Zonke's child she made sure that she was a part of each and everything in the production proces of this concert including the set design, so she was really invested in making this concert a pure success from day one."

M.C for the night was non other than the man himself Mr Gareth Cliff who received a roar of applaud as soon as he stepped on stage rocking a simple yet elegant suit praising Zonke for her talent & the respectful approach she has for her craft.

The time had finally arrived! Zonke gracefully walked towards the mic and before she could even open her mouth the crowd was already giving her a standing ovation. (That's how good she is!) Zonke took us on a musical journey that would have everyone singing along to each and every song.

"I want to talk less and sing more, but I do want to let you in on what frame of mind I was in when writing certain songs I hope you enjoy..." She said.

We are not exaggerating when we say that every single song performed had people on their feet, from hits like "Viva the legend" to "Uzohamb' ubuye (You'll go and come back) the audience was in a frenzy of jubilation at all times.

Zonke was completely in her element and was as comfortable as her simple yet also elegant stage set design, her fans also appreciated her flirtatious performances with the crowd & band members. One of the highlights of the show was when she sang her new unreleased single titled "Say now" which received a positive response from the audience, its definitely one song people should look out for in the next coming months.

Below is the raw, backstage footage of her rehearsing earlier on that night:

Were you at the concert, if not would you buy Zonke's DVD? ZAlebs would suggest you do.
