South African rapper, Reason is making the most of his loyal social media fanbase and he's tapped into their powers for his biggest request to date: to get him on American radio show, Sway In the Morning.

Sway Calloway has made no secret of his love for South African rappers, having featured the likes of Cassper Nyovest and Stogie T in the past few years. The radio DJ has also issued a very public invite to rapper, A-Reece in recent months while also inviting fellow DJ, PH to drop a mix on the show. And now Reason believes his time has come to be the next in the hot seat.

Sharing his travel plans for the next few months, the rapper revealed that he will be in New York City towards the end of this year where he is hoping for an opportunity to deliver a freestyle on Sway's famous breakfast show.

Reason pleaded with his fans on Twitter:

"Oh shit!!! By the way. New York is confirmed for the first week of June!!! Lets make #GetReasonOnSway trend so @RealSway can do the right thing!"

Within a matter of hours, the hashtag #GetReasonOnSway was trending with dozens of fans looking to give the rapper their support.

Let's face it, there are few rappers in South Africa who can deliver as hot a 16 as Reason. The rapper's work has always had a conscious and/or particularly verbose element to it even from his early days. We dug up an interview the rapper did with e.TV back in 2013 and even six years ago, he was intent on providing as much meaning to his rhymes as possible.

"It’s "honest" for the most part but "creativity" is the angle really. Even if something’s been done before, I try to do something else to it. I find that this is what really entertains people when it comes to my music."

With that being said, it was particularly positive to see some of South Africa's biggest musical forces supporting his dream. Even SAMRO joined in on the fun by sending him this well-timed Good Luck message.

Of course, with this being Mzansi there will always be haters and Reason's critics slammed him for "pulling favours" to get onto Sway's morning show.

Do you support Reason's campaign to get himself onto Sway's radio show?
