Tv personality Refilwe Modiselle is beaming with pride after an international film she bagged a role in called White Gold is set to premiere at the Pan African Film festival.
The festival is America’s largest and most prestigious international black film festival which is also the qualifier of the 2021 Oscar Awards.
Refilwe took to twitter under the "O jewa Ke eng" thread to appeal to anyone who can sponsor her trip to the Pan Africa Film Festival to come forward and lend a helping hand.
The phrase, which has become a phenomenon on Twitter, originates from the Southern Sotho language and translates to ‘What is bothering you?’ in English. Since inception, it has become a "buzzword" and topped twitter trend lists.
The tweet, which has become twitter user, Keabetswe's trademark, is timeless, relevant and has become therapeutic for various users who are experiencing heart-wrenching moments in life. Many tweeps have been inspired and received support leading to many landing job opportunities, endorsements, and assistance in their plights so it makes sense why Refilwe would turn to it during this period in her life.
Refilwe, who plays the character of Mansa on the film which highlights the scourge faced by people living with Albinism, said she needs 100k - 150k dollar vs rand expense. The festival which is from 11 February to 23 February would require her to spend 12 days in the US.
Twitter users mentioned Minister Nathi Mthetwa appealing to him to lend a helping hand, but he is yet to address her request.
