Tlou Cleopas Monyepao, who is better known by his stage name DJ Cleo is an award-winning Kwaito, Hip Hop, and House music producer and DJ who has been in the music industry since the early 2000s.

But despite being one of the biggest names in Mzansi’s entertainment industry, very little is known about DJ Cleo’s personal life as he is one of the few very private celebrities in the country.

The identity of DJ Cleo’s wife is currently unknown as the gifted producer has not shared any information or photos of her.

In 2017, DJ Cleo revealed that he was ready to get married and was already engaged but was keeping his relationship private to protect those close to him.

During the interview, DJ Cleo also revealed that his better half’s name translates to “flower” in English and that he had tattooed a flower on his inner upper arm to pay homage to his “flower” explaining that it was safer to put a flower tattoo than her name.

DJ Cleo is also a dad, and a good one it seems. He reportedly has three children- two daughters and a son, who he has also kept away from social media and the public to protect them.

DJ Cleo was born on the 24th of December 1979 in Vosloorus, Gauteng, South Africa. His father was the late Samuel Monyepao who succumbed to Diabetes-related complications in 2015. Not much is known about his mother and siblings but he reportedly has a sister called Lerato Monyepao.

There is very little information about DJ Cleo’s background and education although sources indicate that he studied at Spring Boys High School.

The gifted producer and deejay first got into the limelight in the early 2000s when with the help of Ashifa Shabba, he landed a job at YFM as a producer for the Unrestricted Breakfast Show with DJ Fresh.

His time at YFM helped him gain experience and nurture his interest in production which later came in handy when he established his label record- Will of Steel Productions. 

His skills and growing fame landed him a lucrative deal to produce a soundtrack for the 2005 Oscar-winning film, Tsotsi and he also landed a role on Rhythm City as a freelance producer.

Besides his successful career as a music producer where he has produced successful singles and albums for other artists, DJ Cleo has also established himself as a successful artist and he has written and produced a good number of songs that have won him prestigious awards.

In 2008 alone, he scooped three awards at the SAMAs for his hit single Facebook. In 2021, he also won an award for best DJ at the Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards.
