It has often been said that dating your workmates is bad luck. Not for Minnie and Quinton at the beginning! The two had proven fans wrong after they met at Urban Brew Studios and quickly clicked to become friends. Best friends.

Quinton swept Minnie off her feet, got her engaged and went on to officiate their marriage in 2017 with a news-making wedding.

However, Minnie broke the news on social media on the 15th of February 2022, saying that their divorce was official. Nonetheless, examining their journey, they had it coming.

Once, during an interview ahead of  ‘Becoming Mrs Jones’ premiere, Minnie states that Quinton was not with the idea of filming the intimate experience. “He is very chilled,” said Dlamini.

Hence, there had to be compromises during filming, seeing that Quinton is more reserved than the TV personality and more comfortable behind the cameras.

She also mentions to Anele in 2018 in an interview on ‘Real Talk with Anele’ that they did not go for counseling before their marriage because they had been friends for many years and would do counseling later on in their marriage.

From friends to lovers

Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones became close friends in 2010. Years later, they started casual dating and Quinton decided to make if official during a vacation. In 2016, Dlamini posted beautiful engagement ring pictures captioned, “I said yes.” During this time, their relationship was still under wraps but fans already knew the secret lover was Quinton.

Minnie Dlamini and football star Quinton Jones blew away the whole country with a white wedding held on September 2017.

The ceremony reportedly cost more than R1 million. It was a show stopper with a three-part series dubbed ‘Becoming Mrs. Jones’ that aired on ShowMax. It was held at Lourensford Wine Estate located in Somerset West, Cape Town. Naturally, TV crews were on location to document every moment.

In 2020, the couple welcomed their son making the relationship appear even stronger. Couple goal pictures were all over the internet.

Rumours of trouble in paradise arose as early as 2018, just one year after their dream wedding. This is after a witness confessed to seeing them have a heated argument at the airport. Fast forward to 2022 and things spiralled downwards real quickly.

There were no more couple photos and to top it Minnie dropped ‘Jones’ from her Instagram bio. Dlamini was also spotted without her ring severally. The TV star broke the silence on social media on the 15th of February saying that their divorce was official.

The two cited the reason for separation to be too many changes in motion including devastating losses that came with emotional burdens and post traumatic distress. These outweighed their will to stay together. Minnie assures the public that the two still remain friends, business partners and loving parents to their son.

After the 2018 argument scene at Cape Town International Airport, Minnie said they were lies and that Mr. Jones was not going anywhere. The February announcement was the first official acceptance that the marriage had failed.
