Mmabatho Montsho was introduced to the country on Generations before it was Generations: The Legacy. She was beloved as the character of Lumka, whose love interest was Sphiwe. Following her stint on Generations, Mmabtho went on to star as another beloved father-daughter character on Rhythm City as Thembi Selani.
Despite her successful acting career as she went on to lead the local box office rom-com hit film Happiness Is A Four Letter Word, Montsho opted to focus her time on asserting herself as one of the best and in-demand screen directors for television, theatre and movies.
However, despite all this work, it seems that some news outlets have reduced her to who she is in a relationship with.
Mmabatho Montsho reduced to Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s wife
Mmabatho Montsho was invited by popular digital magazine Nounoucheto be personality who interviews leading man Zolisa Xaluva as he graced the April cover of the magazine. As such, Mmabatho was photographed along with Xaluva for the magazine.
However, a Twitter account then shared the images of Montsho alone. In the caption of the post, instead of sharing Montsho’s accomplishments as an actress and director. The post decided to reduce her to who she is believed to be married to which is the EFF’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.

But Ndlozi was not alone in this pushback. This is as social media took up arms to defend Montsho and her accomplishments as an individual instead of the partner of so-and-so.
Who remembers watching Mmabatho way back in the day on Generations? Proud of her for how she’s worked hard and created her own space as a multi-talented artist. We should celebrate that, not who she is said to be married to. Marriage is not an achievement.
