Meet Zakes Bantwini's Wife - Nandi Madida

Zakhele Madida, aka Zakes Bantwini, is a multi-award-winning singer, music producer and businessman who has been in the industry since the early 2000s.

Over the course of his career, the talented musician who holds a diploma in Jazz and Music performance has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including DJ Black Coffee, won prestigious awards, and solidified his status as a leader in the music industry.

In 2016, Zakes Bantwini bid the bachelor life goodbye when he married the love of his life. This article takes a look at everything there is to know about Zakes Bantwini’s wife including the couple’s children and their wedding.

Zakes Bantwini’s wife is the beautiful and talented singer, actress, model and television presenter- Nandi Madida. 

Nandi was born on 20 March 1988 in Maphumulo, KwaZulu-Natal to Thamsanqa and Thandeka Mgoma and raised in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Nandi Bantwini’s journey to stardom began when she was very young and she began modeling and dancing as a child, even winning the Miss Junior RSA title when she was eight years old.

In 2004, when she was only 15 years old, Nandi Madida landed her first job on television as the host for SABC2’s entertainment show called Bling which was centered around movies and music.

She officially launched her music career in 2011 after releasing her debut single Tonight. Later that year, she was signed by Universal Music Group and in 2012 she released her first studio album titled Nandi which helped boost her fame.

Besides her successful music career which won her a SAMA award in 2020 for best collaboration, Zakes Bantwini’s wife is also an accomplished actress who has featured in several big films including the 2020 Black Is King.

She has also hosted a number of prestigious events including Coke Studio, and BET A-List in 2016.

Zakes Bantwini and his wife met during the 2013 South African Music Awards (SAMAs) nominee parties which coincided with Nandi’s birthday.

After dating for a couple of years, Zakes Bantwini and Nandi got married in June 2016 in a low-key event that was attended by friends and family only.

Speaking about her wedding to Drum, Zakes Bantwini’s wife- Nandi revealed that they attended marriage counseling sessions for a year before tying the knot. 

The pair who are considered one of South Africa’s power couples recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary and their love for each other seems to grow stronger with each passing day. We hope to see them celebrate their 10th and more anniversaries.

Besides having individual successful careers, Zakes Bantwini and his wife are also parents and they are raising a beautiful family.

Together, Nandi and Zakes Bantwini have two young children- a son born in 2016 and a daughter born in 2019. 

Zakes Bantwini also has three other children who were born from his previous relationships. He had his first child when he was only 14 years old.
