.jpg)
In December 2021, Vusi Thembekwayo dominated the headlines after his wife accused him of physically assaulting her. His assault case came one year after he sent an open letter to South African men, telling them off against abusing women.
According to Palesa Thembekwayo’s court statement, Vusi came home one evening, woke her up,
and ordered
her to pack her things and leave their home. When she refused to comply, Vusi slapped her a
couple of
times, dragged her by her legs out of their bed and down the stairs, then forced her and her
things inside
a car and drove off. Palesa later jumped out of the car and ran away when the car came to a
stop at
traffic lights.
