It’s a good time to be a South African musician right now. Our artists have flown the SA flag high both within our borders, as well as abroad and their influence doesn’t look to be waning. South African rock/pop/indie royalty, The Parlotones, have been nominated for four All African Music Awards (AFRIMA), while  Multi-award winning duo, Mafikizolo, have walked away with 6 nods.

House hitters, Mi Casa and Uhuru are not too far behind with 4 nominations each each, while the soulful Zahara managed 3 nominations.

South African artists are definitely making their mark in the African music industry and their strength in numbers at this year’s AFRIMA awards proves it.

The event, which will be taking place on the 9th of November this year, has been described as “a combined effort to recognize and award, promote and preserve Africa’s rich music culture.”

Other African artists amongst those nominated include Davido, Diamond Platnumz and Fally Ipupa.

The AFRIMA’s will take place in Nigeria this year (And will be held in Nigeria up until 2016). Help your favourite nominee walk away with an award by voting on www.afrima.org
