This past weekend, I was at the Follow SA and Twitter Blanket Drive (#TBDZA) held at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg.
What an amazing charity drive to be a part of! The proceeds from the events, which were held throughout Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, will go to Nkosi’s Haven and Kitty & Puppy Haven.
An amazing 3909 blankets were collected – well done to everyone who supported the cause!
It was incredible to find shops had SOLD OUT of blankets, and everywhere you looked on social media, everyone was talking about collecting blankets for this cool initiative.
#TBDZA was trending on twitter as live Twitter feeds were shown on a big screen at the event throughout the night.
I hope that next year will be even bigger and better!
In case you missed it, check out my video blog to see what went down.

Thank you for your #TBDZA support.
Overall we had 16 events (15 in SA, 1 in Zimbabwe) and 25 charities were selected as beneficiaries – at the end of the day an additional charity was added which is N.O.A.H. using blankets in excess of targets at the Sandton event at SLOW in the City.
The initiative raised 11,500 blankets at the last count which is the equivalent of filling 3 rugby stadiums with 4,000 people each lying down with a blanket on the field
Hi Melanie! Thanks for the update – what a stunning initiative. Please keep in touch and let us know the distribution goes wishing you guys all the best!
