I recently got a hold of some clothing from Xamere – a trendy gym wear and swimwear brand – and took the opportunity to set up a shoot to update my portfolio.  I called up this really cool photographer I just happen to know, and we tried organising the perfect location and concept.

It took us forever and a day trying to find the perfect place to shoot! For weeks on end we kept altering the concept to suit our impractical vision. At one point we even considered shooting at a ballet studio but most of them pretty much sucked. And as luck would have it, as soon as the location was sorted our make-up artist went missing!

We began to believe that the shoot just wasn’t meant to be, but these Brazilian items were just too swag – I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Anyway we ended up packing all the camera equipment and lights as well as all the clothing into one car and drove along downtown Jozi on the lookout for sick locations.

Each time we saw something we liked I’d jump out the car in a bikini for a quick pose and a shoot. It was a fun adventure filled with a lot of adrenalin – especially after being whistled at by builders and onlookers. Shame, it was Christmas for some of these men! How often do they get to see a girl in front of a camera dressed in bikini that barely covered her behind?

Our fun escapade was put to an end by the police who threatened to arrest us for public indecency. It was scary and hilarious at the same time. After all the hustle I loved the outcome of the shoot. What do you think?
