As I mentioned in an earlier post, it’s really been a humbling experience just to be nominated as Creative Artist of the Year for the Ikusasa Youth Awards.
The awards ceremony was held this past Saturday (19 May) at the City Hall in Pretoria.
It was probably one of the most unorganised events I’ve ever been to and, although I cringed at so many of the awkward moments when there were technical issues, I had to keep reminding myself that the purpose of the awards was to grow and celebrate the youth of South Africa.
Even though I didn’t win, just to be nominated in the same awards ceremony as some of the industry’s top people was enough of a win for me. I appreciate what Ikusasa are trying to achieve with these awards and I truly hope that it will grow to become a prestigious event in years to come.
