You know that you are in love with music when listening to it makes you feel like the world disappears for that period of time.

My feel good song of the week:

‘Guano Apes – You can’t stop me’

Guano Apes seem to scare a lot of people at first, in fact they scared me for a long time until I found this song! I love the attitude, and the grungy feel to her voice and even the video. The chorus is the feel good part of this song for me: “you can’t stop me to love the world with all its lies, you can’t stop me I’m close enough to kiss the sky.” I love that determination, the fact that nobody can stop you doing what you are determined to do.

My hair-raising song of the week:

‘Switchfoot – Meant to Live’

This song gives me chills because if you listen to the lyrics, which I always believe are an integral part to the song being good or not, they are questioning peoples drive to live better lives. “We were meant to live for so much more, have we lost ourselves?” In life we all seem to get so caught up in work and superficial things that we forget to live….so have we lost ourselves? This song is a reminder to not settle and be complacent in life, but to strive for more.

My favourite video of the week:

‘Mi Casa – These Streets’

I love this music video for obvious reasons. Living in a country that has been through so much separation and distance from other races and cultures, I think it is awesome that this whole video shows everyone feeling at home with each other and being able to come together through music.
