Lusito land is a show that Chix with Stix look forward to playing every year. Each year more people structure their Lusito visit according to when our show is. Some years when it has rained, we have watched people standing in the mud getting drenched right to the end of the set. Luckily this year was sunny, and good weather always creates good vibes.
It was so full that the three of us struggled to get backstage through the all the people. Once ready for the show with all the equipment set up and sound checked, I walked on stage only to realise that we were surrounded, a full 360’, by 12 000 people! With this kind of turnout it’s hard to pick out faces in the crowd, it’s like a sea of people.
It was an indescribable feeling when I started talking over the microphone and received a deafening scream from the audience. To see them all jumping around, clapping to the music was incredible. To witness the shock in the people that have never seen us, the support from the loyal fans, the air drummers appreciating the musicality of it, and the general crowd loving every minute, was by far the best feeling in the world.
This feeling is beyond words, it is incredible and it is addictive. I’m the luckiest person in the world to be able to share my passion and hard work with people who enjoy and appreciate what I do.
Every time I get off stage I can’t wait until the next time I get to be back up there performing. Until then, here’s a cool video of me and the band performing at Lusito Land a while back…enjoy!
