Zenith Bank targets another generation of stars

Zenith Bank Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji said the organisation remained pleased with the competition’s history and development. She described the annual tournament as a source of pride, noting that it had helped produce outstanding Nigerian players and establish the country as a leading force in African women’s basketball.

Umeoji also linked the domestic league to the progress of Nigeria’s women’s national team, D’Tigress. She highlighted the team’s major achievements on the international stage, including its involvement in the Olympic Games and the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

She added that the 2026 edition could provide the next group of players to advance into the national-team set-up, with several athletes expected to take that step.
