Comoros women’s head coach Youssef Abdallah believes the Olympic qualifiers against Nigeria offer his side a valuable learning experience, even after a 2-0 first-leg defeat at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
Second-half goals from Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu on Friday handed Nigeria’s Super Falcons a two-goal cushion in the second-round contest.
“We were aware of the opponent and knew we were coming up against a very, very strong side,” Abdallah said. “As I stated from the start, at the first press conference, our main purpose in coming here was to develop and get better.”
Comoros progressed to this stage with a 30-0 aggregate victory against Sudan. They now need to recover from their two-goal shortfall when the second leg is played in Ikenne on Tuesday.
The team that wins the tie on aggregate will move into the third qualifying round for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Morocco are among the nations already confirmed by CAF as having progressed to that stage.
