
Team Nigeria produced a standout showing at the 2026 Uganda Para-Badminton International in Kampala, collecting 13 medals in total.
Competitors from Abia State were central to the haul, contributing 10 of Nigeria’s 13 medals. That haul included seven gold medals and three silver medals, reinforcing Abia’s status as a leading force in Nigeria’s para-badminton scene, supported by sports funding under Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti’s administration.
Individually, Obinna Precious Nwosu took gold in the Men’s Singles SL3, with Chigozie Jeremiah Nnanna winning the Men’s Singles SL4 title. Elijah Eneojo Agada emerged as champion in the Men’s Singles SU5, while Emmanuel Ifeanacho Ohaeri claimed gold in the Men’s Singles WH2. On the women’s side, Gift Chukwuemeka Ijeoma won gold in the Women’s Singles WH2, and Lyka Brown added another gold in the Women’s Singles WH1.
In doubles action, Chigozie Jeremiah Nnanna and Eze Sunday Chukwuebuka combined for gold in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SU5. Lyka Brown paired with Gift Chukwuemeka Ijeoma to win the Women’s Doubles WH1-WH2, and the mixed doubles top prize went to Emmanuel Ifeanacho Ohaeri and Lyka Brown in the WH1-WH2 category.
Silver medals followed in the remaining doubles events. Obinna Precious Nwosu and Elijah Eneojo Agada finished with silver in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SU5, while Emmanuel Ifeanacho Ohaeri and Ekeoma Samuel took silver in the Men’s Doubles WH1-WH2. Gift Chukwuemeka Ijeoma and Ekeoma Samuel also secured silver in the Mixed Doubles WH1-WH2.
