The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) is set to stage the IOC/BFN Level 2 Technical Coaching Course for badminton in Abuja from September 4 to 12.
The nine-day programme is designed to improve the expertise of badminton coaches and support the sport’s long-term growth in Nigeria. Participants will gain higher-level technical understanding, hands-on coaching experience and exposure to contemporary methods needed to develop athletes effectively.
Selected coaches and technical officials from different parts of the country are expected to attend the intensive course, which will combine classroom instruction with practical work. Its curriculum will cover current coaching approaches, technical and tactical improvement, athlete preparation, training programme design, talent discovery, competition administration and the use of globally recognised badminton standards.
The NOC, working with the appropriate badminton bodies, said it remains focused on advancing sport through education, stronger institutional capacity and the ongoing professional development of coaches and technical personnel.
Organisers expect the Level 2 course to raise the standard of badminton coaching across Nigeria while helping identify and nurture young players with the potential to succeed in domestic and international competition.
The NOC has urged stakeholders throughout the sports community to back the initiative, describing their support as part of the wider drive to build badminton and achieve sporting excellence in the country.
NOC secretary Abba Ado Gumel will coordinate the event, while its president, Engr. Habu Gumel, is scheduled to officially declare the ceremony open.
