Semi Ajayi has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Week award after delivering a decisive performance in Hull City’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United.
The 32-year-old Super Eagles centre-back put Hull ahead in the 17th minute at the MKM Stadium on the opening weekend of the season, before Nobel Mendy doubled the advantage in the 38th minute. Ajayi then helped organise a defence that prevented United from scoring for the rest of the contest, earning him the Player of the Match honour.
The appearance was Ajayi’s first in the Premier League for five years.
He is competing for the league’s inaugural Player of the Matchweek prize of the 2026/27 campaign alongside Rayan Cherki, Julio Enciso, Jack Hinshelwood, Martin Ødegaard, Cole Palmer, Mamadou Sangaré and Anton Stach.
Fans can cast their votes through the Premier League’s official channels.
