The Super Falcons sealed a 7-0 aggregate triumph and moved into the next stage of qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
At PSG’s request, Ajibade underwent an X-ray examination in Lagos before departing for France late on Tuesday. Reports suggested she could face a significant spell out, although no timetable for her recovery has been established.
The examinations in Paris are expected to identify the precise injury and help determine the appropriate treatment plan.
Interim Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen said after the game that medical staff had arranged for the player to undergo an MRI scan. “I was with the medical team and they said they are taking her to the hospital for an MRI to ascertain the degree of the injury,” he said.
Eguavoen added that he hoped the setback would not be as severe as it initially looked.
Ajibade subsequently issued a message to reassure fans. “I’m fine and doing well. I’ll be back stronger, for good and for God’s greater glory,” she wrote.
She also thanked those who had contacted her following the incident. “I see all your messages, your love and your kind wishes. Thank you, thank you, thank you! God bless you all,” Ajibade added.
Her fitness will be closely monitored by both PSG and Nigeria, with any decision on her return dependent on the outcome of the tests in France. Reports from the match also confirmed that she was forced off against Comoros.
