Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has pushed back against allegations that he caused the cancellation of a Wolves training session, denying claims that he refused to leave the pitch in an effort to force a move to Fiorentina.
The 25-year-old striker was left out of Wolves’ preseason group for Wednesday’s friendly against Maidenhead United. British media reports had suggested that on Monday he sat down on the training ground and pressed the club to approve a transfer to the Italian Serie A club.
Arokodare responded on Instagram on Wednesday, describing the reports as “inaccurate” and stating that he has consistently approached his career with professionalism.
“I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which are inaccurate,” he wrote. “Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards. My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my teammates and the club whenever I am called upon.”
The forward also addressed continued speculation about his future ahead of the new campaign.
“I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract,” he said.
Arokodare arrived at Wolves from Belgian club Genk in the summer of 2025 in a deal worth £24 million (around $32 million). He has scored six goals in 38 appearances across all competitions, including three Premier League strikes during a season in which Wolves finished bottom and were relegated to the Championship.
The ongoing uncertainty is already shaping up as a key challenge for new head coach Cesar Peixoto, who took over in June after Rob Edwards. Wolves begin their Championship campaign with the goal of an immediate return to the Premier League.
