Tolu Arokodare marked his first Eredivisie goal by helping Ajax secure a commanding 4-0 victory over Telstar at the BUKO Stadion, extending the Nigeria international’s impressive opening weeks in the Netherlands.
The striker, who arrived at Ajax in July on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, struck in the 60th minute to put the visitors three goals ahead. Steven Berghuis supplied the assist, after Davy Klaassen had broken the deadlock in the 37th minute and Berghuis added a second shortly after the interval. Substitute Marcos Leonardo finished the scoring in the 78th minute.
Arokodare’s latest contribution follows another standout European display. Three days earlier, he scored twice and earned Player of the Match honours, recording a 9.0 FotMob rating, as Ajax defeated Sion 5-3 in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off. The result secured a 9-5 aggregate success and passage to the next stage.
The forward has now registered four goals in five appearances for Ajax in all competitions since moving from Molineux. Sunday’s result lifted the Amsterdam club to seven points from their opening three Eredivisie matches.
