Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has added a new achievement away from football after completing his studies at the PFA Business School with a Merit in the Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship.
The 28-year-old Coventry City forward marked the occasion on Instagram, calling the qualification another moment of personal pride outside his playing career. “Graduating from the PFA Business School with a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship with Merit” was, he said, a significant milestone.
Awoniyi stressed that a football career should not prevent players from continuing to learn and prepare for life beyond their time on the pitch. He said he had always felt that being a footballer should go hand in hand with remaining a student of both the game and education, which had become an important part of his own development.
He expressed his appreciation to the PFA Business School, its lecturers and the fellow students with whom he shared the course. Awoniyi also reserved special thanks for his family and friends, whose encouragement and support helped him throughout his studies.
Concluding his message, the Nigerian underlined his desire to combine his ongoing playing career with further education: “Still playing. Still learning. The journey continues.”
The PFA Business School provides learning and professional-development opportunities for people working in football. Its programmes include subjects such as leadership, management and the commercial side of the sport.
Awoniyi is therefore continuing to compete professionally while building his academic knowledge in football sport directorship, managing his playing responsibilities alongside his studies.
