Barcelona have completed the signing of Germany winger Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, with the LaLiga side confirming the agreement runs until 2031.
No fee was officially released by either club, but reports in the media suggested the transfer is valued at €22 million (around $25.1 million), with further add-ons and a sell-on provision included.
In a statement, Barcelona said: “FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi, who has signed a contract with the Catalan club until 2031.”
Adeyemi joined Dortmund in 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg in Austria and went on to make 146 appearances for the Bundesliga club, finding the net 36 times across all competitions.
The 24-year-old will now work under familiar leadership, reuniting with Hansi Flick, the coach who gave him his debut with the Germany senior team during Flick’s two-year tenure in charge.
Adeyemi is widely praised for his burst of speed, including a Bundesliga pace milestone when he recorded 36.65 km/h during Dortmund’s 5-1 victory over Freiburg in the 2022-23 season.
With the move, Adeyemi becomes Barcelona’s second forward-focused capture of the current window, following the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
He joins the Spanish champions as they reshape their attacking options after Robert Lewandowski’s switch to Chicago Fire and Marcus Rashford’s return to Manchester United following his loan spell in Catalonia.
