Former Bayelsa United players have presented the club with a set of jerseys as it prepares for the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
Support ahead of the new campaign
- Former chairman Dr Ebiki Timitimi handed over the jerseys in Yenagoa, explaining that the donation would assist the team during its pre-season friendly matches and preparations for the upcoming campaign.
- Timitimi said former players continued to care about Bayelsa United’s progress. He also asked supporters and critics to offer fair, constructive assessments of the club’s management rather than making public comments without first understanding the issues involved.
- He said the ex-players wanted to contribute in a modest way because the pre-season programme was about to begin. In his view, people were free to express their opinions, but should first speak with the management and hear its perspective before criticising it publicly.
- Chairman Dr Peter Singabele, members of the management board and board member Godson Ekadi received the kits on behalf of the club. They described the contribution as an expression of solidarity from an important stakeholder group.
- Ekadi said the donation was the first significant support Bayelsa United had received from stakeholders before the new season and would raise the spirits of the board, coaching staff and players.
- He called the presentation a strong message from the former players, saying backing from the club’s own community indicated that a positive season could lie ahead. Ekadi added that the campaign had effectively begun with a practical display of support and affection, rather than words alone, and encouraged other stakeholders to follow the same example.
- Ekadi also urged businesses and international oil companies operating in Bayelsa State to support the club in a similar manner.
- He said such backing would demonstrate unity and goodwill within the Bayelsa United family while making it easier for commercial brands to associate themselves with the club.
