Bendel Insurance are targeting a stronger international presence and greater competitive and commercial success ahead of the 2026/2027 football season.
London strategy meeting
- As part of the club’s preparations, chairman Hon. Jarrett Tenebe met in London with Dr Drew Uyi, a FIFA-licensed football agent, international brand strategist and founder and chief executive of DD Eleven Group.
- The talks examined fresh ways to reposition the historic Benin-based side for improved results both on the field and in its wider business operations.
- Tenebe and Uyi considered measures to expand Bendel Insurance’s international reach through contemporary player branding, overseas marketing, talent promotion and commercial growth.
- They also discussed improving the club’s players’ appeal in international markets while protecting Bendel Insurance’s standing as one of Nigeria’s leading football institutions.
Player branding and commercial development
One of the central ideas was a formal athlete-branding scheme. The programme would help players build professional public images, develop stronger online identities and gain greater media exposure, potentially increasing their chances of attracting overseas opportunities, sponsors, clubs and scouts.
Tenebe reiterated his determination to create a more powerful and competitive Bendel Insurance. The chairman highlighted innovation, professional standards and carefully chosen partnerships as key elements of the club’s long-term progress.
The football enthusiast and committed Arsenal fan said relationships of this kind would be vital to helping Bendel Insurance advance on both sporting and commercial fronts.
Uyi said he was prepared to assist the club’s ambitions by drawing on his international football contacts and experience in player development, branding and worldwide sports marketing.
He added that success in the modern game depends on more than ability alone, with effective branding playing an increasingly significant role in raising players’ value and opening doors to opportunities around the world.
Collaboration begins
The London discussions represent the starting point of a proposed partnership intended to raise Bendel Insurance’s global profile, give its players greater support and establish a platform for a successful 2026/2027 campaign.
With preparations in progress, Bendel Insurance FC said it remained focused on innovation, excellence and sustainable development as it prepares for the demands and possibilities of the upcoming season.
